Vision and Mission

Vision:

• Our vision is to make the South Holland area a better place to live, work, learn and have fun as a model of lowland sustainable living.

Mission:

• Reduce the flood risk to both people and the developed and natural environment by providing technically, environmentally and economically suitable defence measures within the Drainage District;
• Enable and facilitate land use for commercial, environmental and recreational purposes by providing a technically environmentally and economically sustainable system of drainage / water level management within the District;
• Integrate public, private and voluntary sector drainage interests;
• Guide and regulate activities in and alongside watercourses, discouraging inappropriate development in areas at risk from flooding;
• Nurture, enhance and maintain the natural habitats, which exist in and alongside watercourses within the Drainage District;
• Seek to provide high quality services, cost effectively;

Internal Drainage Board Duties and Powers underpinning this Mission Statement are in line with government policy provided for in the Land Drainage Acts of 1991 and 1994.
