Map of Area & Pumping Stations

An amalgamation of five IDB's and constituted in 1974 the Board's area extends to approximately 38,400 hectares of lands situated between the River Welland and Nene immediately behind the coastal defences of "The Wash". The Board is responsible for some 704 km of watercourse along the various associated structures. Soils within the district range from silts in the north and heavy clays in the south.

Details of Pumping Stations:

The Board has sixteen pumping stations, whose combined capacity is 35 cumecs serving a total area of 25,277 hectares, including 625 hectares which are double pumped. The thirty three pumps are all electrically driven and, except for Westmere Pumping Station, are monitored by Telemetry.
